CAMIGUIN RUNS EHCP EVALUATION IN SCHOOLS

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, June 8 (PIA) — All 55 elementary schools here have recently undergone evaluation for the Essential Health Care Package (EHCP) implementation to sustain efforts in promoting health and hygiene values and habits among school children.
Actual evaluation results bared that 31 or fifty six percent (56%) of the schools evaluated shows notable efforts in implementation.
This means, the students with the supervision of the teachers, diligently adheres to the tooth brushing and hand washing schedule.
Apart from the regular group activity, the provincial evaluation team also checks on the presence of health corners, functional drinking and wash facilities in schools.
EHCP Provincial Program Coordinator Thelma G. Dagpin said the program is on seventh year now and they have been going around for the evaluation regularly, at least twice in a year.
“We do pre and post evaluation to ensure it’s been carried out well, as well as, name outstanding implementers to encourage non-performing schools full compliance,” she said. - From piacamiguin.wordpress.com

DISKWENTO CARAVAN ALL SET FOR THE 36THLANZONES FESTIVAL

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, October 06 (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Camiguin Provincial Office will hold its 4th “Diskwento Caravan” (carnival discount caravan) this coming October 18-25, 2015 back to back with the Ugmad Agro-Trade and Tourism Fair 2015 as a part of the Camiguin’s 36thLanzones Festival.
This discount caravan is a regular activity of the DTI to help the consumers avail of various products marked down by as much as 2% to 10%.
To be held at the Cong. PPR Tourism and Sports Center, display will include dairy products, canned goods, hotdog, fruit preserves, fruit juices, chips and pastries, laundry supplies, batch items, toiletries, bottled water and more. 
This is just one of the many caravans spearheaded by DTI all over the country in its aim to provide consumers better access to basic and prime commodities at affordable prices.
This public service event is expected to draw a thousand residents here and is conducted in partnership with the major manufacturers and distributors in the province together with the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU). DTI-CAMIGUIN CELEBRATES CONSUMER WELFARE MONTH

Mambajao, Camiguin, September 30, 2015– To continually champion consumer welfare promotion and development, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Camiguin Provincial Office will be spearheading anew this year’s observance of the annual Consumer Welfare Month in the whole month of October.
October is known as Consumer Welfare Month through Presidential Decree 1098 and this year’s event carries the theme: “Consumer Protection in the ASEAN Economic Community.
The theme also advocates consumer’s preparation in the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community by December 2015 envisioned for a stable, prosperous, highly competitive ASEAN economic region, facilitates freer flow of goods, services, investments and flow of capital, equitable economic development and reduced poverty and socio-economic disparities
To highlight the month long celebration, DTI-Camiguin is set to conduct a Consumer Education Advocacy Program through conduct of a Provincial Consumer Quiz Bee, a contest open to all high schools in the province which will be participated by the best grade 9 and 10 students with a maximum of three (3) contestants/representatives per school in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd).
The Consumer Quiz Bee in the provincial and regional levels aim to advocate to the youth the importance of Consumer Education, rights and privileges of consumers and other consumer related laws.
The consumer month celebration is vital to the consumers’ welfare to create awareness of the 8 basic consumer rights which are the right to basic needs, right to safety, right to information, right to choose, right to representation, right to redress, right to consumer education and the right to a healthy environment. - From piacamiguin.wordpress.com

DTI-CAMIGUIN PROMOTES YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin, September 28, 2015 — Some 37 graduating students from the Camiguin Polytechnic State College (CPSC) have undergone a one-day Youth Entrepreneurship Development Training on September 18, 2015 at the Mambajao Negosyo Center.
The Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) Camiguin Provincial Office initiated the activity to promote youth entrepreneurship development under Republic Act (RA) 10679; “ An Act Promoting Entrepreneurship and Financial Education among Filipino Youth” or the “Youth Entrepreneurship Act” which was ratified last August 27, 2015.
This Act hereby declared to promote the sustained development of young Filipinos whose aptitude and skill in the field of finance and entrepreneurship shall be encouraged and honed through education and specialized training programs as part of the broader strategy to promote the viability and growth of enterprises in order to create more jobs in the country.
In this Act, the promotion of youth entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy Program shall be inculcated in all levels of education nationwide being consistent with the Section 5 of Republic Act. No. 10533 or the “Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013.”
The DTI is a member agency of the Entrepreneurship Education Committee being chaired by the Department of Education (DepEd) with members from relevant agencies like the Commission of Higher Education (CHED), Technical Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the National Youth Commission (NYC) in support with the local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Councils (MSMEDCs).
